The past two weeks have been another great example of our club’s commitment to learning, service and community connection.

One of the highlights was our guest speaker, Phil Wicks, who delivered an engaging and practical presentation on the use of EpiPens, first aid and emergency response. Phil’s insights provided a timely reminder that having the knowledge and confidence to act in an emergency can make a real difference.

We also received updates on our Nepal project and the ongoing RAWS appeal. These initiatives remind us that Rotary’s impact extends far beyond our local community and that, together, we can help improve lives both locally and internationally.

Thank you to Adam Cutler for bringing members together for the recent Community Service Committee meeting. It was encouraging to see the enthusiasm around upcoming projects and opportunities to further strengthen our service in the local area.

Over the fortnight, Ryan and I also met with David, the Manager at PCYC Rockdale, to discuss ways our organisations can work more closely together. We explored opportunities for collaboration in youth programs, community initiatives and future projects that align with both the PCYC and Rotary’s commitment to supporting young people and strengthening our community. I look forward to seeing where these discussions lead.

I would also like to acknowledge Simon van Wyk for his continued efforts in developing relationships with Bunnings and exploring partnership opportunities that can support future community projects and fundraising activities.

A special thank you goes to Peter Gleeson for his work on the club’s audit report. Peter’s diligence and professionalism help ensure our club continues to maintain strong governance and financial accountability.

On a more sombre note, we were saddened to learn of the passing of Tracey Ayton, a past Rotarian who joined Rotary in 2016 before relocating to the Central Coast in 2025. Tracey dedicated countless hours to helping others through her involvement with Little Heroes Swim Academy, an organisation committed to providing inclusive aquatic education and water safety opportunities for children and adults living with disabilities. Her passion for inclusion, service and helping others reach their potential made a lasting impact on many lives. Our heartfelt condolences go to Tracey’s family, friends and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
