President's Message
Welcome to this Newsletter of the Rotary Club of Botany Randwick Inc. Our club has been serving the local and international community since 1948.
Rotary promotes the ideal of service through fellowship. Attending our meetings allows members to enjoy the fellowship of other club members, enrich their professional and personal knowledge, and meet other business leaders in their community.
As a Club we support a wide range of projects. As well as having a broad range of local and international community projects, we are particularly focused on the Rotary projects, Australian Rotary Health, Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS) and Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children (ROMAC) together with The Rotary Foundation.
We welcome everyone to come along to any of our meetings to join in the fellowship and to learn more about what we do.
Our guest speaker at this meeting will be Angela Nashaat, who will be telling us all about her “Arts by Nature” initiative.
The Annual General Meeting will also be held as part of this meeting.
We will elect the President for 2027/28 and Officers and Directors of the Club for 2026/27. At the AGM last year, Mark Daniels was elected President for 2026/27 and at this meeting we will elect the following:
President-elect for 2027/28
Officers - Secretary and Treasurer
Directors - Club Admin, Community, International, Youth and Relationships.
All members are asked to consider nominating for these positions. Training and support is available for each role. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask any current Board Members.
We will conclude with dinner in the Graphic Arts Club restaurant.
Our last meeting
At our last meeting, our intended guest speaker, Ryan Dempsey, had to attend a funeral of a colleague in Dubbo, so was unable to attend our meeting. We will catch up with him at a later meeting.
President Simon stepped into the breach, and we had a good discussion on options for broadening our fundraising base.
Step Out, Speak Out …
For your diary - the annual Step Out, Speak Out Walk will be held on Friday 21 November 2025, moving from High Cross Park at the top of Coogee Bay Road, Randwick at 7:30am and finishes about 9am following a BBQ at Coogee Beach.
This event is sponsored by Randwick City Council and Eastern Beaches Police and supported by Rotary District 9675.

6pm for pre-meeting drinks and chat. The meeting, with dinner, starts at 6:30pm and normally concludes by 8:30pm.

The prize is valid for 12 months. The prize is transferable to friends (but the transfer must be registered within one month of receiving the prize) - your receipt will have a gift certificate to share.
Rotary and the Gates Foundation are renewing their longstanding partnership to end polio, announcing a joint commitment of up to US$450 million to support the global polio eradication effort. The Botany Randwick Rotary Club has been a long-term supporter of this Program.
“While historic progress has been made toward defeating polio—90 percent of the world’s population is free from the wild poliovirus—we’re facing significant challenges from competing financial priorities to fragile health systems. Furthermore, the detection of polio in places like Papua New Guinea that were previously polio free demonstrates that polio anywhere is a threat everywhere,” said Rotary International PolioPlus Committee Chair Mike McGovern. “The extension of our fundraising partnership with the Gates Foundation allows us to reach children around the world with lifesaving vaccines, keeping every child and community safe from this preventable disease.”
October is Economic and Community Development Month
Rotary Clubs all over the world help communities and people in other countries with projects that aim to provide sustainable ongoing development and help, not just immediate charity.
The Rotary Foundation also enables Rotarians to invest in people by creating sustainable, measurable and long term economic improvements in their communities and livelihoods by :
Building the capacity of entrepreneurs, community leaders, local organisations, and community networks to support economic development in impoverished communities;
Developing opportunities for productive work;
Reducing poverty in under-served communities; and
Supporting studies for career-minded professionals related to economic and community development.
